Introduction
My business partner (Jon) and myself will be opening a coffee shop / jazz bar in Manchester, named Vibe Manchester. Jon and myself have experience running a successful caf? whilst we were based in Brazil. We understand this industry and how everything functions together to create an efficient and profitable business. However, we do need help branding our company with an aesthetically enticing face that stands out above the rest, highlighting our unique approach and positive vibes amongst our competitors.
Vibe Manchester will stand as a caf? throughout the day, we want to host a warm and inviting atmosphere within the shop that allows customers to relax and 'chill out'. Towards the evening, the bar will transform into a jazz lounge with live acts playing and drinks flowing.
Audience
Seeing as though our business almost transforms into a different one in the evening, it's hard to pinpoint an exact audience. In terms of the coffee shop throughout the day time, we aim to attract young professionals, as it is a mere 3 minute walk from Manchester's business district, Spinningfields. This demographic will be plentiful throughout the day - tens of thousands of people walk through deansgate everyday and we are in the centre. Everyone is a possible customer so we don't want put other people off by specifically targeting a select audience.
Towards the evening when the live music starts and the bar opens, there are definitely people we do and don't want inside Vibe Manchester, but again we don't want to specify an exact demographic. We aim at making the bar inviting for couples, small groups of friends and music lovers aged 20 - 50 ideally. People we don't want are large groups of boys and girls, heavy drinkers or anyone being a bit too rowdy.
Depending on what acts are on, the audience will always vary. For example, 'country' night and 'reggae' night won't necessarily reel in the same people.
Vision
Manchester is known for its amazing clubs and vibrant nightlife, it's packed with clubs and bars that don't close until sunrise, but all these places seem to be rowdy and far from relaxed. Vibe Manchester will host a relaxed and sociable atmosphere where our customers can have drink, listen to some music and hang out till late.
Aims
I think it's a good idea to set targets of where we aim to be in 1 years time and then 5 years time to give you a feel of how we are hoping to progress, here they are:
In 1 year we hope to have a steady flow of new and returning customers and in the position to be taking on more staff. We're aiming to be on the way to getting our name in the 'Good Food Guide' and getting some recognition.
Our 5 year goals are to list within each of the top 5 music venues, caf?s and eateries in Manchester. I'd like to have expanded the company to three new locations in the UK's major cities including London.
Competitors
Manchester is full of quirky coffee shops, music venues and cocktail bars with great reputations and loyal customers. Although all these venues offer what we do, none of them offer all of these rolled into one. Vibe Manchester is a hybrid business, merging all the things we love and putting them in the same place, making for the best experience possible. Branding is a big deal to Jon and I, our business plan wouldn't work if it didn't have a solid, effective brand backing it up. We want to look professional yet laid back, something that sets us apart from others.
